I’m beyond excited to announce that legendary Magic artist Anson Maddocks will be joining us at the Edge-Man Championship 2026 as our Guest of Honor! His iconic style—so evocative of that early Alpha and Beta magic—has shaped how many of us fell in love with the game. To have him in attendance promises an unforgettable celebration of art, nostalgia, and Old School camaraderie.

A Legendary Guest of Honor

Anson Maddocks needs little introduction to Old School aficionados. From his hauntingly sexy monsters to his dynamic creatures, his work graced some of Magic’s most memorable cards. At Edge-Man 2026, Anson will be available for live altering and autograph signings. Whether you’re hoping to snag a signed print of Sengir Vampire or simply chat about the challenges of illustrating mana-driven horrors, this is your chance.

Childhood Favorites Revisited

Thinking back to my earliest decks, two cards immediately come to mind: Sengir Vampire and Disintegrate. I still remember the thrill of deploying that bat-winged terror on turn 3 (with help from Dark Ritual), its crimson eyes locking onto unsuspecting blockers… and the satisfying crackle of Disintegrate as it obliterated my opponent —or a key blocker. Those moments defined my teenage Magic experience, and it’s no coincidence that both bear the unmistakable Maddocks touch. I can’t wait to reminisce with Anson about how he approached illustrating that viscous red blast and the sinister grace of Magic’s original vampire.

See you in 2026!

Whether you grew up casting Disintegrate in your kitchen-table games or you’ve admired Anson’s art from afar, this is a dream come true for Old School fans. Mark your calendars (January 17th 2026), polish your playmats, and get ready for a weekend of epic matches, incredible artwork, and the chance to meet one of the artists who helped define the soul of our beloved game.
