“I’m broke but not like poor broke.
I’m a classy type of broke.
I’m broqué!”

The Edge-Man

Hold onto your hats and prepare to get really wacky with the latest Old School shenanigan – introducing the “Broqué” format! We’re turning the clock back to an era set between Fourth Edition and Scourge, digging up the quirkiest reprints of the Old School cardpool for your amusement. “Broqué” is your cheap ticket into a whimsical journey through Magic’s Old School goofy reprints.

Most Old School tournaments are played using the Swedish rules (full modern rules, including no mana burn) and Ban & Restriction list. The “Broqué” format follows the same rulesets but with a unique twist! We are playing reprint-only! Yeah! You read that right!! You can only play cards that are legal in the Old School format but were printed between Fourth Edition and Scourge!

The “Broqué” format is all about style, giggles and good times. It is your chance to bring out those kooky reprints and create decks that look absolutely bonkers! Sure, you can play an Ehrnam Djinn from Chronicles but why stop there when you can play the Judgement version or go full ape and play the Beatdown printing. But why choose? This is all about style, just play all of the above!

Yep, even foils are legal! And so are the gold boarded World Championship Decks (WCD) cards! To top it all off, foreign language cards are also legal. But remember, it has to be printed between Fourth Edition and Scourge. So a Foreign White Bordered (printed in 1994) Serra Angel is NOT legal but a German version of a 4th Edition Serra Angel is. So, no Unterirdischer See or any other fancy duals for you! Why? Because we play “Broque”!

Are you ready for a magical rollercoaster where every draw is a surprise and every match a complete freakshow? Join us in the “Broqué” format – where the cards are as kooky as they come, the battles are bonkers, and the fun is off the charts. See you at the Edge-Man 2025 Championship “Broqué” side-event.

Here are some examples of silly “Broque” versions of classic Old School decks:

Classic Zombie-tribal!

Disclaimer: “Broqué” is a very fancy format. The rules and regulations are subject to change based on the input provided by the community. A yet to be appointed independent group of fancy “Broqué” fans and players will maintain the rules, a potential official banned list aswell as a official dresscode for the format. In the absence of such a committee The Edge-Man is judge, jury and executioner of the format. The likelihood of the Edge-Man ever appointing such a facy committee is very slim, at best! He has ruled that, untill further notice, “Broqué”-gatherings are black-tie only events! If you want to play “Broqué” in the comfort of your own home, you must do so in a fancy dressing gown or smoking jacket So, if you don’t own a tuxedo or very dressing gown, “Broqué” probably isn’t for you.
